    Masters Logistical Timeline

Here at Masters, we are delighted to be starting 2022 by celebrating our success over the last 18 years and showing you our latest timeline…

Back in 2004, Masters Logistical Services Limited was born, with Paul and Neil being partners, later during the year, Deanna became a partner alongside them. Since then, we have grown the business and achieved so much from winning a multitude of contracts, receiving many Palletline Service awards, and reaching our first £5 million turnover year.

Before Masters Logistical Services Limited in its current form was created, a man called Colin Masters founded CW Masters back in 1982, and it is from here that the story on our newly created timeline unfolds . . . .

Have a browse of our timeline and travel back through the years to see how much we have achieved since 1982 and how Masters has continuously grown, always striving to achieve more for our customers.

So, how did Masters become a successful business?

For a business to succeed, you need to have a clear vision and set SMART goals that are aligned with your plan. You also need to have the right people doing the right role. They need to have excellent organisational skills and fantastic customer service.

Below are 7 factors that have helped Masters grow and be a successful business:

    1. A clear vision

A clear vision for the business is vital… Everyone in the business must be involved with creating the vision and clearly understand what it is, and how you will get there. Everyone needs to know and understand the importance of their role and how they can help achieve great success for the business. The Masters team created a 5-year vision with a strategy, back in 2015, so that they could see where they wanted to be and how they were going to get there.

    1. Perseverance

It is not surprising to hear that every business will find it hard at first, and even after that, it gets harder. Starting a business will test your limits of what you can bear and usually well beyond. Back in 2013, Masters, unfortunately, had a fire breakout that destroyed all of Unit 3 at the Stretham site. However, within a year, they had managed to rebuild the unit and reopen it. Everyone at Masters has perseverance, and because of this, they were able to get through the testing times. Perseverance is one of the most important factors because if you don’t have the persistence to see you through the difficult times, your business will not survive.

Masters were very grateful for all the support and understanding they received from their staff, customers, and suppliers during this very challenging period.

    1. Success or failure is not permanent

Running a business, you will find there are crises and celebrations. Either of these should not go to your head.

For a successful business, you need to be level-headed. Celebrate the successes, learn from the mistakes, and continue working towards your goal. Looking through the timeline, Masters celebrate everyone’s achievements; but they remain humble. You can see it has taken hard work, dedication, and determination from all the team to be where they are today.

    1. Shared beliefs

Creating a team filled with people who share the same beliefs and values is key to a successful business. Masters operate with a real family ethos. This means that the team is open and honest with each other, they listen and feel heard, they all have the same vision of the future for the business. Having a team that shares the same values and beliefs will create success in your industry.

    1. Motivation

Not only do you need to be motivated, but you need to be able to motivate those around you. As previously said before, you will find that your business will have its ups and downs, but if you have the skill of keeping yourself and your team-driven, you will have a successful business and a happy and determined workforce. The timeline shows that everyone is motivated to grow the business, the list of big clients they have won is a huge achievement, but they are also motivated in ensuring their services are the very best quality. In 2021 they achieved the BRCGS status. Masters hire the right people for the right job, and this proves to be effective as the majority of the team has been with us for a long period of time.

    1. Outstanding customer service

Many successful businesses forget the importance of providing excellent customer service. Provide them with solutions they need and look after them incredibly well. By providing better service for your customers, they will be more inclined to stay with you and become loyal customers, than going to your competition. Masters go above and beyond for their customers, and you can see this within the timeline as in 2018 they had a major site improvement to help facilitate the new contract they won, British Sugar.

Masters pride themselves on the customer relationships they have and is one of the main reasons they retain their customers year on year.

    1. Be Creative

No matter what industry your business is in, things will change as time goes on, and you must be ready to adapt your business to survive. Constantly look for ways to improve your business and make it stand out from the rest. When running a business, you need to be open-minded to new ideas and different approaches. This was particularly key when Ton Up and CW Masters merged to create Masters Logistical Services Limited.

Masters did not become a successful business overnight. With all the factors above, we were able to grow and accomplish so much together. We have the determination and motivation to keep growing.
